- Irina Abaza

Irina Abaza (n. 1977) a absolvit Universitatea de Arte „N. Grigorescu” din Bucuresti in 2002 si este in prezent presedinte al Asociatiei din Pod si coordonatoare a programului de arta publica I love Bucharest. Pe langa interventiile artistice in spatiul public, Irina Abaza se concentreaza in lucrarile sale de pictura pe surprinderea emotiilor si trairilor profund umane. Drama, misterul, trairea personala, intimitatea, poezia starilor reprezinta scopul picturii Irinei Abaza.

7:19 am presents a poetics of expectation, a visual exploration of a tense universe, populated by atemporal characters trapped in a closed space. The window that delimits this captive space may represent a link to the exterior, a possible escape route, or merely a source of light from which the characters shy away. The contrast between two worlds – the outside (alien) one, and the inside world (homely, but at the same time claustrophobic) – is a symptom of the characters’ inner drama.
The state of expectation, of waiting, becomes a form of stasis, a discontinuity, a flight from the real world, an in-between existence. The characters are depicted in a voyeuristic manner, vulnerable in their exposed corporeality, mute, locked within their own drama. In this way, the viewer becomes himself a voyeur, an impotent witness of a sterile expectation, whose mystery envelopes him, turning the viewer into the very character he is looking at.” – Irina Abaza
